  • 2015 – Philippine representative and member, International Geothermal Association (IGA), Geothermal Working Group, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Framework Classification for Resources, that drafted the 2016 Geothermal Specifications. The geothermal specifications were endorsed by the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy at its twenty-fifth session, Geneva, 30 September 2016.

Plans and Programs for EMAA 

  • Promote camaraderie among the members for a more cohesive organization using available communication platforms, development of programs and relevant activities.
  • Draft and finalize a comprehensive, realistic and short-, medium and long-term indicative roadmap with programs geared toward the realization of the objectives of the association.
  • Draft and finalize the mission and vision of the new association.
  • Develop a recognized, respected and prestigious association within the MGM industry, academe and partner organizations.
  • Actively participate in local and foreign forums/fora affecting MGM through sharing and discussion of current and pertinent issues and concerns.
  • Develop meaningful link(s) with the academe in identifying local and global needs of the MGM industry in order to train and develop competent graduates that can address such needs.
  • Gradually establish link(s) with mining stakeholders/communities to assist in understanding and addressing MGM-related local problems.
  • Identify and develop a continuing education program for members of the association through scheduled webinars and talks.
  • Develop an operating manual to maintain and sustain a professional and an ethical organization.

Career Highlights: 

  •  March 2017, Vice-President, Project Development and Mine Management for Marcventures Mining & Development Corp (MMDC) in Surigao Del Sur. Currently, I am the Country Manager in the Philippines for Astec Industries, Inc.
  • In August 2007, recruited by The Managing Director of PT Baramulti Coal Mine in Indonesia to operate their high grade coal mine in East Kalimantan. From thereon, I work in Indonesia for 10-years and the latest 5-years was as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PT Baramutiara Prima. My contract was extended 2-times but finished in January 2017 (www.astecinductries.com), US company that manufacture rock crushing plants and many other products.
  • In 2004, Mine & Development Engineer, PNOC-Exploration Corporation. where we developed the Isabela Coal Mine Project and conducted mine planning and rehabilitation that was used to present to the shareholders including the presentation to the coal mines affected. Unfortunately, the anti-coal mining in Isabela during that time was very strong and the leftist were supporting the anti-mining advocates. PNOC EC then shifted to conducting possible acquisitions of coal mines in Indonesia where I was the head mining engineer. We made several coal mine evaluation and shortlisted 3-coal mines presented to EC BoD. The best take should have been the Bunyu Coal Mine where the owners offered to PNOC EC at US$12 Million 95% take over with 85 million mt confirmed reserve. After several presentations to the BoD and PNOC Head, the project was reject. The coal mine was bought by Adani of India after 3-years and Adani was making huge profits.
  • 1981 worked in Doha, Qatar for quarry and construction company for 3-years and returned to Manila. Worked in Semirara Coal Mining Corp as Cadet Engineer until reaching the senior position for 10-years. Joined a crusher company, Minyu of Taiwan and US, as Philippine Sales Manager and eventually joined another company that manufacture concrete batching plants until forming my own company where we design, manufacture local crushing plant components.
  • 1981, graduated, BSc Mining Engineering, Mapua Institute of Technology (now called Mapua University)

  • Increase the marketing campaign on the value of the Mining Industry for the Philippine Economy; 
  • Promote job awareness for fellow EMAA member by creating MGM projects including consultancy works; 
  • Create membership campaign that will attract competent MGM members that will contribute to the organization through new student and professional membership; 
  • Make our organization known globally thru global MGM projects; 
  • Create long-term projects to revive EMAA at Mapua University.
